Apply to The Activist Training Institute (ATI), a program of AARW, by March 10th!

The Activist Training Institute (ATI) is a training and leadership development program founded in 2005 as a collaborative effort between API Movement and AARW.  ATI hosts learning opportunities for activists who identify as Asian Pacific American (APA) to develop political analysis and organizing skills within the context of building an Asian American social movement for justice.

ATI’s goal is to deepen the commitment to movement building in Greater Boston by supporting the development of Asian Americans aspiring to become organizers.  We do this by:

  • Honing organizing skills

  • Supporting existing, local organizing efforts, including campaigns

  • Developing a shared political analysis

  • Building a multigenerational community of activists

Topics covered include building social movements during this period, Boston’s Asian American communities, organizing skills, and movement leadership.

In addition to the training content, ATI incorporates a hands-on, practicum component in which teams of participants partner with a community organization to support a current campaign or project.   We use experiential learning methods – such as neighborhood tours, case studies and guest panels – to complement concepts and frameworks with applied learning.
