Love Letter to the QTAPI Community
We created this zine as a love letter to the community and as an example of some of the stories we want to archive around QTAPI community care!
Within this project we are attempting to shift narratives around collective care away from capitalist, colonialist, ableist, and racist narratives. Collective care is not a chore. Collective care is an act that can be deeply sacred, long term, sustainable, and joyful. We are reclaiming care giving as a radical and sacred form of love. Our communities have held each other, supported each other, and have shown up for one another for centuries and centuries. It is within our history, our languages, our way of defiance, our way of loving to provide care for our communities.
Collective care is queer, it is disability justice, it is anti-colonial, it is transgressing and breaking down the barriers the colonial state has set. Giving and receiving collective care is a deeply sacred act of love within our histories and our communities.
We hope that the workshops we offer throughout the course of this project can help you access your emotions and storytelling agency in the context of queer, loving spaces, and offer up our own letters to you through this zine to practice giving and receiving care <3
