In honor of Dalit History Month, we will be hosting an interactive art-healing space to celebrate our Dalit movement elders and ancestors! The event will be on Saturday, April 26th, from 2pm - 4pm at Beacon Hill Friends House (6 Chestnut St, Boston, MA 02108). We will be using a variety of mixed media to explore personal narratives, encourage reflection, and inspire self-acceptance. Join us for collective art creation, community building, and delicious food! RSVP at bit.ly/april25mm
We will collectively learn about how anti-caste discrimination work is related to the work we already do and our anti-displacement framework. We will also think through the works or words of June Jordan, Audre Lorde, Ocatavia Butler, Bhim Rao Ambedkar, Phoolan Devi, Yuri Kochiyama, James Baldwin, and more when creating our own art.
Our co-facilitator, Prema Bangera (she/they) is a queer neurodivergent immigrant of color, multidisciplinary artist and founder and director of BIPoC Ancestral Arts as Love (BALA).
